Fic Corner Tag Set.

Dear Fic Corner Scribbler letters can be found here.

Requests

You must request at least three fandoms, and can request up to ten. You may request between 0 (any) and 10 characters. The exchange is set up to match ANY, not ALL to increase odds of matching. You may not be matched on ALL the characters you request.

By requesting Any, a participant is requesting Any characters on the fandom's nomination list. Do not be that person who requests Any in Fandom F, but writes about specifically wanting Character Z from Fandom F who wasn't nominated.

You may also request Any if you want fics focused on worldbuilding instead of a specific character(s).

Prompt URL: If you want to leave a Dear Fic Corner Scribbler letter for your writer, this is the place to do so.

Description: Optional details are optional, however, if you want to give your writer ideas, this is the place to do it, whether you write a letter or not.

Offers

You must offer a minimum of 3 fandoms, maximum of 10. You may offer up to 10 characters or offer Any.

The bucket list is enabled, so you can offer more than 10 fandoms, but any fandoms in the bucket list default to ANY characters, ANY ratings. More information about making a bucketlist offer (including a lovely diagram) can be found in the Yuletide sign-up instructions.

Don't forget to request/offer fandoms you want. If you're lukewarm about a fandom, don't request it or offer it. Chances are this will be the fandom you receive/are assigned.

Once at least five people have signed up, you'll be able to keep track of current request/offer numbers via the signup summary.

You may edit your sign up form until sign ups close on June 28th.

Fic Corner Scribbler links

Sign-ups are open. The sign-up summary can be reached from the sidebar once at least 5 people have signed up.

Post or link your Dear Fic Corner Scribbler letters here.
You'll want to list the following at a minimum:

your AO3 Name (especially if it's different from the name you're commenting with).
Fandom 1
Fandom 2
etc.
Link to your letter on or off LJ/DW

You can also post your entire letter in the comments.

A note on optional details
Optional details are optional, but participants may have very strong feelings about how they want their childhood fandoms to be handled. I ask that you also respect any squicks/strong feelings expressed in their letters.

That being said, your letter is not the place to ask for a character who wasn't nominated or a specific relationship, unless it's one of several options (or something like "I love everyone/Character X, so feel free to include them if you want"). Remember that your writer only signed up to write the characters listed and might not be prepared to write for other characters. Don't make your writer sad because they know they can't please you.

Tag set closed, vetting has started.

Please note any issues you find in the tagset in the comments. Tag set

Tag set closing in half an hour, vetting starts now.

Short version, I overslept. Due to the delay, vetting will run until 9pm EDT 19th June (What time is that for me?), and assignments will go out tomorrow night once vetting closes.

I've got four fandoms which were not published for children or teens, but are teen-adjacent which I've decided to allow.

Biting the Sun - Tanith Lee
The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood
Ready Player One - Ernest Cline
Wayward Children Series - Seanan McGuire

I'll be sending the character nominated as "Judge" in the Henry & Mudge series through as Mudge, barring any new information before I close noms. I'm slowly working my way through sending fandoms and characters from the uncategorized/unassociated bins right now, so please do not leave vetting comments on those. It takes a while for the archive to catch up to the changes I'm making.

Vetting notes can be left in the comments. The Tag Set can be found here

Queries the fourth and 12 hour delay in closing noms

Unanswered Queries:

For the person who nominated the Henry & Mudge Series, I've got one character I'm holding off on approving - did you mean Judge or Mudge???

New Queries:

For the person who nominated The Worst Witch Series - Jill Murphy, you nominated Maud Spellbody who only appears under that name in the newest TV show. Did you mean to nominate Maud Moonshine?

I'm pushing noms closing back till tomorrow morning as I've got other tasks I need to finish tonight. You've got till 18th June at 9am EDT (What time is that for me?).

Fic Corner Noms ending in about 12 Hours

We're about about 12 hours away from noms closing now. You've got till 17th June at 9pm EDT (What time is that for me?).

Note that the mod reserves the right to leave noms open overnight and close them in the morning. If this happens, there will be a post with the revised deadline.

Queries the third

Unanswered Queries:

For the person who nominated the Henry & Mudge Series, I've got one character I'm holding off on approving - did you mean Judge or Mudge???

For the person who nominated The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood, I can't find any evidence it was marketed to teens at any point. Being used in high school classes is not enough to make a book eligible for the exchange. I'll hold off on rejecting it till the end of the nomination process, but I'd need to see some proof that it was marketed to teens (not necessarily in the US or in English) before it will be accepted.

New Queries:

For the person nominating Postman Pat (TV 2004), this is a book fandom exchange. Either change the fandom to refer to the book tie-ins, or change your nom. You've got till the end of the nomination process.

For the person nominating Ready Player One - Ernest Cline, I can't find any evidence it was marketed to teens at any point. Winning the Alex Award for teens is negative evidence, since this award is given for best ADULT books that might interest teens. I'll hold off on rejecting it till the end of the nomination process, but I'd need to see some proof that it was marketed to teens (not necessarily in the US or in English) before it will be accepted.

I had someone point out that I'd accidentally left the tagset invisible. I did not mean to do that and currently nominated fandoms are now visible here.

We're about about 17 hours away from noms closing now. You've got till 17th June at 9pm EDT (What time is that for me?).

New Query:

For the person(s) nominating Wayside School - Louis Sachar, both Mark Miller and Benjamin Nushmutt were nommed. I don't mind sending them both through, I just want confirmation that they were intended to be nommed separately.

I had someone point out that I'd accidentally left the tagset invisible. I did not mean to do that and currently nominated fandoms are now visible here.

We're about at the halfway point for noms now. You've got till 17th June at 9pm EDT (What time is that for me?).

Queries the first

For the person who nominated the Henry & Mudge Series, I've got one character I'm holding off on approving - did you mean Judge or Mudge???

For the person who nominated POTTER Beatrix - Works, it looks like you specifically meant the Peter Rabbit books...is this correct? I'd rather not use Works tags unless it's unavoidable.

For the person who nominated Ghostwriter, I am aware that there is a tie-in book series, but I need more time to research the details. Apologies for the delay.

ETA: I've had several fandoms come through with no characters, which have been approved. However, I encourage people to nominate characters for better matching.

Noms are open

Apologies for the delay, but I was ill yesterday.

Nominations for The Exchange at Fic Corner are open on AO3. You can nominate up to four fandoms and up to five characters. Nominations will close on June 17th at approximately 9pm EDT. What time is that for me? Note that your mod is not very good at keeping track of time in the evenings and this does not happen automatically but it's safe to say that it will probably close before 1am EDT the next morning.

To make this easier on your mod, remember that book titles are canonized in AO3 as Title - Author or in the case of multiple authors, Title - Various Authors. If you're nominating a book or book series that is also a tv show/cartoon/board game/movie/podcast/etc., I WILL assume you mean the book version, but there will be much tearing of hair in the process, so the more specific you can be, the happier I will be. If there may be confusion, feel free to elaborate in the comments of this post.

The Eligibility guidelines from the FAQ. )

Feel free to use the comments to plan nominations, one book/series per thread. Please put title - author in the subject field for ease in coordinating.

Fic Corner Brainstorming

The Exchange at Fic Corner 2017 Schedule
June 3rd - Brainstorming Post will open; Any Changes to Eligibilty Rules will be posted (none this year).
June 9th - June 17th - Nominations
June 17th - June 18th - Vetting
June 18th - June 27th - Sign-Ups
June 28th - Assignments Sent Out
August 21st - Deadline for Stories
August 28th - Collection Goes Live
While I was hoping to shift the schedule to Memorial Day (last Monday in May) to Labor Day (first Monday in September), I'm late getting started this year. I've also moved sending out assignments earlier as I can't guarantee I'll have time to deal with issues the last weekend of June.

Go forth and brainstorm in the comments.

Got a favo(u)rite kids or YA book or series or story you want other people to write for or request? Want to know if you're "the only one" who ever read that one particular book or who loves that certain character?

Note that we're ending earlier this year. I keep crashing into Yuletide, and I need a little more space there. There will be no changes to the eligibility rules this year, so go ahead and poke at the FAQ and start thinking about what you want to nominate. Note that the dates on that post still reflect 2015 and won't be updated till Saturday, June 3.

Fic Corner is happening this year.

I'm going to try to get the schedule up tonight, since we're scary close to June. Dates may shift a little from previous years as I'll be away the first and last weekends of summer.

Please note that after the initial wake-up posts, they will no longer be crossposted to LJ due to the latest kerfluffle. Dreamwidth will be the main comm, and tumblr crossposting will only happen if people display an interest.

We're Open and an announcement

All fics in, all pinch hits done. Now your mod gets to collapse for 2 minutes before [livejournal.com profile] yuletide starts.

When I first started this exchange, I planned to alternate it with a kids tv exchange, either winter/summer, or every other year. Then I got tapped to help run Yuletide and people really liked the idea of a kidlit exchange, so I ended up running that three years in a row. But now it's time. Next summer instead of fic corner, I'll be running that kids' tv exchange, which is unnamed as yet (put your suggestions in the comments).

Eligible fandoms will include cartoons and live action shows aimed at kids or teens. It will definitely include the precursors to dedicated kids tv networks (such as Full House and Boy Meets World), but I'm not sure where the eligibility rules will come down on something like BtVS where the main characters start in high school, but graduate less than halfway through the series.

All stories in, but...

There's an issue where one of the stories isn't assigned properly to its recipient. I've contacted the author, but for now I am going to hold off on opening the archive for at least another 8 hours, and possibly longer. If this hasn't been resolved by tomorrow night, the collection will open, and I'll manually notify the recipient, but I'd like to give the author a chance to fix it first, as I'm certain it was an accident.

Last pinch hitter found

With any luck we should go live in 24 hours or so.
Entry tags:

Deadline is passed

I've got two pinch hits which I will send out in the morning. There are also a few people who requested and were granted extensions. The archive will open on the 7th or possibly earlier if a) everyone has a story and b) I'm not afk. I've got some day trips planned for next weekend, so don't count on the archive being opened early.

We currently have 50 fics in 81 fandoms. ♥ Feel free to add treats over 1000 words to the main collection or treats of any sort to the treat collection.
