Queries the third

For the person who nominated the Henry & Mudge Series, I've got one character I'm holding off on approving - did you mean Judge or Mudge???
For the person who nominated The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood, I can't find any evidence it was marketed to teens at any point. Being used in high school classes is not enough to make a book eligible for the exchange. I'll hold off on rejecting it till the end of the nomination process, but I'd need to see some proof that it was marketed to teens (not necessarily in the US or in English) before it will be accepted.
New Queries:
For the person nominating Postman Pat (TV 2004), this is a book fandom exchange. Either change the fandom to refer to the book tie-ins, or change your nom. You've got till the end of the nomination process.
For the person nominating Ready Player One - Ernest Cline, I can't find any evidence it was marketed to teens at any point. Winning the Alex Award for teens is negative evidence, since this award is given for best ADULT books that might interest teens. I'll hold off on rejecting it till the end of the nomination process, but I'd need to see some proof that it was marketed to teens (not necessarily in the US or in English) before it will be accepted.
I had someone point out that I'd accidentally left the tagset invisible. I did not mean to do that and currently nominated fandoms are now visible here.
We're about about 17 hours away from noms closing now. You've got till 17th June at 9pm EDT (What time is that for me?).

Date: 2017-06-17 01:28 am (UTC)I was initially inclined to come down on the side of rejecting Ready Player One...but then it occurred to me that the best parallel case is probably Ender's Game, which we routinely include in YA lists nowadays largely because it was reprinted in specifically YA-targeted editions.
Except that publishing has changed just enough between the advent of Ender's Game and the appearance of Ready Player One that that sort of targeted reprinting has, I think, pretty much gone away. Nowadays, everybody buys the same editions of A Wrinkle In Time and So You Want to Be A Wizard; on the flip side, everyone is also buying the same editions of Rowling's Fantastic Beasts and ...Cursed Child titles, and you're not going to be able to argue that those aren't part of a kids' series.
It's a close and tricky call, and in some respects I wish it were otherwise, but I think Ready Player One has just enough YA karma points to squeeze in.
