The American Girl series - I'm thinking particularly of Felicity, Samantha, Kit, or Molly, though I think any of the series could spawn awesome fic. (Has anyone else read the Rebecca books?)

Megan Whalen Turner's Queen's Thief books. Politics! Clever heists! All in AU Greece.

Sherwood Smith's Crown Duel: More politics! Not as many clever heists! The heroine, Mel, is awesome; I love how she gets things totally wrong sometimes, and rather than dig in with her errors, tries to correct herself.

The Borrowers. Okay, I can't be the only person who just wants the further adventures of six-inch tall people. I would probably be happy reading about them constructing a chest of drawers or something out of common household objects. (I also always kind of thought Arrietty and Spiller would get together in the end...)

ALL THE AMERICAN GIRL BOOKS. I also would not be averse to Julie & Ivy fic.

Sherwood Smith indeed; besides Crown Duel, there is also her very recent Spy Princess. And the Wren books, come to that.

*Happily seconds Crown Duel. And Queen's Thief. And American Girl, come to think of it*
But Crown Duel in particular, because there doesn't seem to be that much fic about it that I've found? And significantly less about members of the court other than the principals--I have wanted say, Tamara/Savona fic for ages. And there can never be enough Queen's Thief fic to tide us over until the next book comes out....

There's a surprising lack of Crown Duel fic, despite the fact that so many fannish people seem to like it - and I think almost all of it is Mel/Shevraeth, which of course is splendid, but there's so much more in that book to be explored! I would love fic detailing Bran and Nee's courtship, or showing Tamara and Savona's relationship...

Even just fic showing all of them surviving the Galdran years. How did Nee and Elenet deal with that poisonous atmosphere?

*nods* Yes, exactly; I adore Mel/Shevraeth, of course, but at the same time I've always craved pre-canon fic for the younger generation. The snippets of their interactions in Court Duel are so interesting; it's like they're halfway caught between trying to protect each other (with the secret fan language) and trying to tear each other apart in the hopes of self-preservation. We only get the narrative through, Mel and Danric, who are both never at Court in that particular atmosphere, but I can't help wondering: what would that do to all the rest left behind?
(And Nee, especially--I can hardly picture her surviving Galdran's court, and that one stray suggestion that she might have been present during the scenes in Crown Duel was unnerving enough.)

I know! How did Nee and Elenet survive the viper pit of Galdran's court? They both seem like such sweet, sensitive people, it must have been hard for them to bear it. At least they could support each other, though. A scene about their reactions to Mel's meeting with Galdran might be fantastic.
